44th HOM to happen on 30 Nov 2021

 

The 44th SEAMEO High Officials Meeting  (HOM) will be conducted virtually on 30 November 2021. H E Ms Treenuch Thienthong, the Minister of Education, Thailand is expected to deliver opening speech while Dr Ethel Agnes Pascua-Valenzuela, Director of SEAMEO Secretariat, will give a welcome remarks.

The one-day meeting has two sessions – In-Camera and Plenary. The In-Camera Session is scheduled from 09.00 to 10.30 hrs GMT+7 (Bangkok Time) and will be attended by heads of delegations and designated officials from SEAMEO Member Countries (2 people each) and SEAMEO Associate Member Countries (1 person each) only. The Plenary Session will be conducted from 10.45 to 16.15 hrs GMT+7 (Bangkok Time).

Several decisions and resolutions will be made during the meeting to ensure that the programmes/projects/activities/initiatives related to the SEAMEO Seven Priorities Areas 2015-2035 will be successfully implemented as well as the new initiatives of the SEAMEO Centres and the SEAMEO Secretariat will be endorsed for further process in the planning and implementation of the initiatives. One of the highlighted working papers is SEAMEO-Singapore Youth Camp and Challenges (SSYCC).

At the end of the meeting, there will be presentations of 11-SEAMEO-Member-country reports regarding updates on the implementation of Seven Priority Areas/Education Agenda: towards post-COVID-19 recovery phase. In addition, presentations of the SEAMEO Associate members and SEAMEO Affiliate members regarding proposed or updates on collaboration with SEAMEO Secretariat and SEAMEO Centres/Network in 2021 onwards will be showcased.

The winners of the 2021 SEAMEO-Japan ESD Award (in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan (MEXT)) and the SEAMEO-Jasper Research Award 2021/2022 (in collaboration with the Government of Canada) will also be presented during the plenary session to honor their great achievements. 

The HOM is held yearly and is attended by the High Officials such as the Secretary General and the Director General of the Ministries of Education of the 11 SEAMEO Member countries. This year, apart from the High Officials, nearly 170 participants confirm participation comprising representatives from SEAMEO Associate Members; SEAMEO Affiliate Members; 26 SEAMEO Regional Centres/Network; as well as SEAMEO partners from all across the world.
