Bangkok, Thailand: SEAMEO Secretariat in collaboration with Quacquarelli Symonds, UK (QS) hosted the SEAMEO-QS Higher Education Forum under the theme ‘Using Performance Insight to Build World-Class Universities in Southeast Asia’. The virtual event was conducted successfully on Thursday 14 October 2021 at 15.00-17.00 hrs (GMT+7, BKK time) with over 7,000 participants on the SEAMEO Secretariat YouTube Live Channel.

The SEAMEO-QS Higher Education Forum is one of the SEAMEO-Partner Series Webinar aiming to develop a platform where key players from education stakeholders and industry can share initiatives, knowledge, and efforts to address education disruptions during the pandemic in Southeast Asia. The virtual series will be beneficial to school/TVET/university teachers and educational personnel.

QS is the world’s leading provider of services, analytics, and insights to the global higher education sector, whose mission is to enable motivated people anywhere in the world to fulfil their potential through educational achievement, international mobility, and career development. All universities in the world have recognised the QS World University Rankings portfolio, inaugurated in 2004, to become the world’s most popular source of comparative data about university performance.

Within 2.5-hour live, viewers could learn from global higher education experts of what constitutes a world-class university. In particular, university administrators could learn insights of QS world university rankings methodology and be inspired by the speaker from Universiti Malaya, the 65th QS ranked university in Southeast Asia, through its success story of how to become a world-class university. The SEAMEO-QS forum, therefore, could help universities across the region to enhance their performance to raise their international profile.
