The COVID-19 pandemic triggered a revolution in the way we live, work, and learn. Particularly, the COVID-19 has changed the educational landscape globally.
 
To learn the newest technological solutions and innovative strategies for improving teacher capacity, as well as developing future skills for students and teachers during the lockdown, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation Secretariat (SEAMEO Secretariat) collaborates with the global education leaders and partners to organise the SEAMEO-Partner Series.

The SEAMEO-Partner Series addresses the need to have a platform where key players from education stakeholders and Industry can share initiatives, knowledge, and efforts to address education disruptions during the pandemic in Southeast Asia. The virtual series will be beneficial to school/TVET/university teachers and educational personnel. 

Specifically, the SEAMEO-Partner Series aims to:

  • Share the advanced knowledge/expertise and up-to-date solutions from the SEAMEO Partners that can contribute to institutional development, future skills development, and teacher capacity development.
  • Broaden the viewpoint in the technological disruptions arising during the COVID-19 crisis.
  • Provide opportunities for education leaders, teachers, and students to explore new technologies and innovative solutions. 

 

1. SEAMEO-NEW ZEALAND MASTER CLASS

Officially admitted as an Associate Member Country in 1973, New Zealand's cooperative relations with SEAMEO include scholarships and provision of experts for SEAMEO Regional Centres and Southeast Asian Countries.

To share the expertise and knowledge in education technology, the SEAMEO Secretariat in collaboration with the Education New Zealand (ENZ) will organise the first SEAMEO-New Zealand Master Class with the theme “Education Technology and Digital Security” on 30 September 2021 at 09.00-11.00 hrs (Bangkok Time).

3. SEAMEO-QS Higher Education Forum

Using Performance Insight to Build World-Class Universities in Southeast Asia

Under the SEAMEO-Partner Series, the SEAMEO Secretariat in collaboration with QS Quacquarelli Symonds, UK  will organise the SEAMEO-QS Higher Education Forum, with the theme ‘Using Performance Insight to Build World-Class Universities in Southeast Asia’ on 14 October 2021 at 15.00-17.30 hrs (Bangkok Time).

The purposes of the session are to provide an understanding of what constitutes a world-class university and to help universities across the region how they can better harness insights to understand their performance.

The session will highlight the QS World University Rankings methodology, reflect on the QS experience of evaluating the performance of universities around the world, and draw out insights into Southeast Asian universities’ performance across the last few years. It will also feature two speakers from top-ranked universities within Southeast Asian countries in sharing their success stories of becoming a world-class university.
