Led by SEAMEO SEARCA, the four-day training-workshop aimed to firm up notions on knowledge partnerships and enable the SEAMEO Regional Centres to draw up a joint knowledge management agenda and related actions towards designing and applying knowledge solutions in an organization.

During the opening programme, Dr Witaya Jeradechakul, Director of SEAMEO Secretariat said that SEAMEO is in a marathon of 10 years which begins with the first KM training-workshop. œIn the course of the marathon, we need to effectively and strategically harness our mission, which as a result, creates and enhances our ability to contribute to the region and the world, he stressed. The Knowledge Management is one of the 18 SEAMEO initiatives identified in the SEAMEO Strategic Plan to attain the Golden SEAMEO vision by 2020.

Dr Gil C Saguiguit, Jr, Director of SEAMEO SEARCA and host of the training-workshop highlighted the importance of KM and said that the enormous amount of information and knowledge in various fields of specialization of the 20 SEAMEO Regional Centres is an asset and needs to be shared in a systematic manner through KM with the stakeholders in the 11 SEAMEO Member Countries to help contribute in improving the way we do things and life ™s quality.

During the workshop, the participants identified and assessed the resources of each SEAMEO Regional Centre. Subsequently, parallel sessions were conducted where the Centre Directors discussed on the basic elements of a SEAMEO KM system strategy and programme, while the professional and administrative group identified and discussed learning and knowledge-sharing mechanisms among SEAMEO Regional Centres. At the end of the learning event, the participants presented their proposed action plans which include a plan for internal KM of each SEAMEO Centre, a plan for external KM which will involve the SEAMEO Centres and their stakeholders, and a plan for SEAMEO-wide KM which is intended for implementation between and among the SEAMEO Centres.
