Thai and Indonesian Schools hold online meeting for SEA Digital Class and Partnership Development





SEAMEO Secretariat in collaboration with SEAMEO Regional Centre for Distance and Open Learning (SEAMEO SEAMOLEC), Indonesia organised the SEAMEO School Network Meeting in Thailand: SEA Digital Class and Partnership Development on 21 March 2016 at the SEAMEO Secretariat office, Bangkok, in the effort of developing partnerships among schools under SEAMEO network.

The meeting aimed to introduce the concept of Southeast Asian (SEA) Digital Class and the benefits of information and communication technology (ICT) in leveraging the capacity of teachers and students.  It also provided opportunities for Thai and Indonesian schools to develop partnerships, create collaborative programmes, and plan for capacity development using ICT through activities conducted by students.

11 schools in Thailand and 9 schools in Indonesia participated in the Meeting, powered by Webex teleconference platform. During the Meeting, participants presented exemplary projects run in their respective schools, ranging from robotics and botany, to language and culture.

The Meeting concluded with the schools in both countries expressing their agreement to implement cultural exchanges through online student activities. The programme will start from August to October 2016,  focusing on music, dance, and Food. The programme is in line with œAdopting a 21st Century Curriculum , slated in SEAMEO Southeast Asian New Education Agenda 2015-2035 ™s Seven Priority Areas.

Also present in the Meeting were Dr Gatot Hari Priowirjanto, Director, SEAMEO Secretariat, and Ms Duriya Amatavivat, Assistant Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Thailand.
