Winner of 2014 SEAMEO-Japan ESD Award Visited Japan

The study visit programme was part of the prize for the 1st prize winner of the SEAMEO-Japan ESD 2014 Award. It was organised by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan to provide an opportunity for the teachers and students to learn about Japan ™s Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) practices. The students and teachers also had an opportunity to meet with Mr Tomohiro Yamamoto, the Parliamentary Vice-Minister of MEXT, and to visit Ichikawa Gakuen School, a UNESCO Associated School.

The four-day study visit programme provided the teachers and students with an eye-opening experience in looking at how the concept of Education for Sustainable Development is applied in Japanese schools. The first-hand exposure was invaluable to inspire them in their future projects and activities in ESD at home in Thailand. To view the reflections from the students
