This was the message of H.E. Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, SEAMEO Council President in her recent official visit to Malaysia from 19-23 April 2026, reaffirming SEAMEO’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation in education, science, and culture.

The mission brought together officials from the Ministries of Education of Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia, the SEAMEO Secretariat, and SEAMEO Regional Centres to review ongoing programmes, exchange expertise, and identify new opportunities for collaboration.

The delegation visited SEAMEO SEN in Melaka to learn about the Centre’s regional work on inclusive education, including the SEN Sense mobile application and programmes supporting learners with disabilities. Visits to SMK Malim and Permata Kurnia showcased Malaysia’s innovative approaches to vocational education and early intervention for children with autism.

Engagements with SEAMEO RECSAM and SEAMEO TROPMED Malaysia highlighted regional efforts to strengthen STEM education, teacher professional development, postgraduate training, and applied scientific research.

Building on the momentum of this regional engagement, the SEAMEO Council President continues to advocate for closer collaboration among Member Countries and stakeholders in addressing the region’s evolving education priorities. Her leadership reinforces SEAMEO’s shared vision of empowering every learner through quality education, innovation, and regional solidarity.
