SEAMEO, Kyungwoon University sign MOU to Strengthen Higher Education, Teacher Education, TVET Programmes

Bangkok, 28 March 2023 – The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Secretariat (SEAMEO Secretariat) and Kyungwoon University (KW), Republic of Korea committed to encourage and promote collaboration in higher education, teacher education as well as vocational training and education (TVET) with the virtual signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 28 March 2023 at 09.00-09.30 hrs (GMT+7/Bangkok Time).

The MOU provides the scope and main areas of cooperation between SEAMEO Secretariat and KW on matters of mutual interest in strengthening of higher education, teacher education, and TVET between Southeast Asian countries and Korea. It includes activities such as teacher and student academic mobility programmes; collaborative researches on educational development and other relevant topics; webinars, forums, seminars, and conferences; joint development of online/offline/hybrid learning platform and sharing contents; and professional development and expert exchange programmes.

The MOU was virtually signed by Dr Ethel Agnes Pascua Valenzuela, Director of SEAMEO Secretariat and Dr Dongje Kim, President of Kyungwoon University in the presence of the representatives of SEAMEO Secretariat and KW officials. 

Dr Valenzuela reaffirmed in her remarks that “we plan to do exchange both in education or in industry-based courses, internship programmes, professional development and exchanges between our member states and Korea.”

 

 

Meanwhile, Dr Dongje Kim, President of Kyungwoon University, expressed his appreciation to SEAMEO Secretariat and KW team for arranging this event. He hoped that we, together, could have such academic cooperation and exchange programmes and would contribute in development of both Korea and Southeast Asian countries.
