The University of Tsukuba (UT), Japan, has been one of SEAMEO’s Affiliate Members since 2009 and remained one of its most active. UT has developed various teacher development programmes, particularly in Science, Mathematics and Teacher Education, as well as professional and student exchange programmes through its partnership with SEAMEO Regional Centres and SEAMEO Secretariat.

In 2022, at the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Center for Research on International Cooperation in Educational Development of the University of Tsukuba (CRICED), the SEAMEO-University of Tsukuba Teacher e-Training Series was launched. A collaboration between CRICED and SEAMEO Secretariat, the series is open for free to teachers and educators in Southeast Asia and beyond to learn from distinguished professors and experts from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Chile, Mexico and Southeast Asia.  

Participants 

The University of Tsukuba and the SEAMEO Secretariat would like to invite Ministry Officers, School Leaders, Teachers, Educators, and Student Teachers from Southeast Asian countries and beyond to participate in the teacher e-training series, starting July 2024.

Platform  All classes are live streamed through UT’s YouTube Channel.  Participants can flexibly review the recording of the courses via the UT Web-based Platform.

Frequently Asked Questions regarding the platform of the online course

There are 4 courses to be provided this year, and the topics of each course are 1) Computational thinking; 2)IB; 3)Geography; and 4) Mathematics. Each course consists of 4 lessons. You will receive the link for each lesson after submission of your assignment of the previous lesson. 

e.g. Course#1 Computational Thinking starts from July 3rd. The course consists from four lessons, which are on July 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th.

Yes, there is. You will have the assignment for each  lessons. It will be distributed before the lesson in google form, and you need to submit it by the closest Sunday after the livestream(the livestream is on Wednesday). 

e.g. If the lesson is on July 3rd(Wednesday), you will need to submit the assignment by July 6th (Sunday).

Yes. You can watch the lesson on Wednesday (day of live stream), Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at your convenient time. You must submit your assignment by Sunday 19:00 (GMT+9) in order to receive the link for the next lesson. 

e.g. If the lesson is on July 3rd (Wednesday), you can watch the video until 7th July. Please be sure that you submit the assignment by July 6th (Sunday), 19:00 (GMT+9).

First of all, please note that you need to submit your assignment for the previous lesson in order to get the link for the next lesson. If you submit the assignment, you will receive the link by Tuesday (the day before the next lesson).

e.g. If your next lesson is on July 10th (Wednesday), you will receive the link to join that lesson by July 9th (Tuesday).

You can pose questions to the lecturer in google form (this is different from the assignment form) by Friday. The lecturer will answer to some of the questions in the beginning of the next lesson. 

e.g. If you want to ask questions about the lesson livestreamed on 3rd Wednesday, you will need to submit the question google form by 5th Friday. The answers to some of the questions will be given in the next lesson on 10th. 

In order to get the certificate, you will need to submit all the assignments for the lessons within the set due date. After you finish submitting the assignment for the course, you will receive the certificate by the end of October.
