A. Background

The fifth International Day of Education will be celebrated on 24 January 2023 with the theme “to invest in people, prioritize education”.1 Building on the gains and commitments from the UN Transforming Education Summit (TES) last September 2022, this celebration will highlight the urgency of translating these commitments into concrete action through continued advocacy and engagement with key education stakeholders. Prioritising education will empower the teachers, education personnel, and most importantly, the learners through the provision of equitable and inclusive quality education. This will also help accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as prepare schools and communities for the changes and disruptions happening in the world.

In celebration of this, SEAMEO Secretariat will be conducting a webinar celebrating the International Day of Education on 24 January 2023, Tuesday, 10.00 AM to 11.30 AM (GMT+7, Bangkok Time). The webinar will discuss key topics to ensure that education is prioritised by key stakeholders and movers to ensure the transformation of education and highlight topics such as digitalisation, youth engagement, foundational learning, and greening education.
