BACKGROUND

The international community has never felt so fragile than today, with several waves of the COVID-19 pandemic spreading faster than ever before. Still many countries are in lockdown and decided to close border on the second year of the pandemic. This is a critical moment for us to take stock of the changing course and the transformation happening in many educational institutions in Southeast Asia.

The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) joins the international community in the celebration of the International Day of Education on 24 January 2022 with the theme. “Changing Course, Transforming Education”.

As the COVID-19 is far from stopping or closing and ending, the SEAMEO Secretariat will organize a special webinar to discuss the changing course, the educational transformation brought by COVID- 19 pandemic, especially in the implementation of internationalization programmes, internship programmes and academic mobility.

The webinar aims to shed light on how education has been transformed by the pandemic. Moreover, education leaders can share how students may be empowered to gain social mobility, and good jobs and how students can very well contribute their skills and talents in the region, for regionwide stability and economic development in the new normal.
