Young SEA-TVET to the Future

The Symposium with the theme œLearning and Sharing towards Internationalisation and Harmonisation  was hosted by Office of the Vocational Commission under the Ministry of Education Thailand in collaboration with SEAMEO on 29-31 August 2017 in Krabi, Thailand. The event was organised in response to the regional policy directions and recommendations from the TVET High Official Meeting in May 2016 in Bali to promote knowledge sharing, and 21st century and innovative thinking skills of TVET students and teachers.

The Symposium went successfully with the participation of approximately 400 TVET students and 180 teachers from 75 TVET institutions in 8 countries, namely, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and China.

The programme include Student Presentation on œMy Innovative Project ; Student Group Activity and Innovative Competition; Special Session for Teachers on STEM for TVET; Student Cultural Performance, and Study Visit.


Student Presentations on My Innovative Project


A total of 50 student innovative projects were presented by students. The presentations included 8 innovations for Hospitality and Tourism; 13 innovations for Agriculture and Fisheries; 12 innovations in Electronics, Mechatronics and Manufacturing; and 7 innovations for IT, Business and Commerce.


Student Group Activity and Innovative Competition on œBetter Life for Elderly People 


One of the highlights was œStudent Group Activity and Innovative Competition. The assignment œBetter Life for Elderly People  was challenged to 38 groups of students which were mixed by nationality and study areas. The mission was to create a project concept or product prototype to make the elderly people happier in their daily life by using recycle objects. 10 outstanding projects and 3 winners from popular vote were awarded at the end of the Symposium. The awarded projects were such as Adjust-able Stick, Project Health Chair, Multi-function Wheelchair, Sprink-IT lady, Portable Toilet, Amusement Hat, Elderly Package, Multifunction Smart Case, the SC-avengers.
