The SEAMEO Secretariat hosted the Virtual SEAMEO Executive Committee (EC) Meeting 2022 on 11 August 2022, from 09.00 to 11.00 hrs (Bangkok Time). The annual meeting is a platform to update the SEAMEO Executive Committee on SEAMEO priorities and programmes and set directions and provide recommendations to the management of SEAMEO Secretariat. Mr Lai Chung Han, Permanent Secretary (Education) of the Ministry of Education, Singapore chaired the meeting participated by the SEAMEO Executive Committee members composed of Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Thailand.

Dr Ethel Agnes Pascua-Valenzuela, in her opening remarks, welcomed the EC 2022 Chairman and Members and highlighted the role of the EC in providing advice to SEAMEO to ensure the achievement of the organisation’s vision as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. Likewise, Mr Lai Chung Han, Chairman of the meeting, expressed his appreciation to Dr Pascua-Valenzuela for her leadership and accomplishments over the past year. He also thanked the EC members for their commitment and contributions to the discussions in the meeting.

Eighteen working papers from SEAMEO Secretariat were discussed during the meeting.  This includes the updates on the ongoing program mmes and projects of the SEAMEO Secretariat as well as financial and organizational matters. The next SEAMEO Executive Committee Meeting was agreed to be organised in August 2023.
