SEAMEO Secretariat Conducts Annual Planning for FY 2022-2023

The SEAMEO Secretariat (SEAMES) conducted its Annual Planning Activity on 19 to 20 July 2022 at Phumontra Resort, Nakhon Nayok. The two-day annual activity seek to plan and identify key programmes, projects, and activities for the upcoming Fiscal Year, 2022-2023. The activity was also an opportunity to celebrate the gains and accomplishments of SEAMES and forge stronger bonds and camaraderie among the SEAMES staff.  The theme for the annual planning is “Sailing the SEA: Navigating SEAMEO’s Plans to Build Back Better” which is anchored on the SEAMEO Strategic Plan 2021-2030 and the SEAMEO Integrated Operational Plan 2021-2025 as well as SEAMEO’s goal of building back better especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.

On her message, Dr Ethel Agnes Pascua-Valenzuela, Director of SEAMEO Secretariat, shared with the SEAMES family four points that we should remember as a team: (1) working for the greater good, (2) focusing on the tasks at hand, (3) investing time, and (4) working together.

On Day 1, the Programme and Development (P&D) Unit, Administration Unit, Finance Unit, and Knowledge Management (KM) Unit of SEAMES presented their accomplishments from the past fiscal year through designing creative boats which will contain their accomplishments. SEAMES staff then presented their Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) using equipment and tools used for sailing. On Day 2, the units presented their annual action plans which showed the programmes, projects, and activities that they will be implementing for FY 2022-2023.

The annual planning also celebrated the accomplishments of its staff during the SEAMEO Night, where the SEAMES family also showcased their national attires. Various awards were presented to SEAMES staff during the activity. The Long Service Award were awarded to Mr Anusorn Dusitpirom, Mr Sakda Sophakul, and Mr Boonmee Wongjan for their service to SEAMEO. Most Outstanding Staff was also awarded to Ms Piyapa Su-angavatin, Most Outstanding Manager, Mrs Chanika Nonthachai, Most Outstanding P&D Staff, and Mr Anurat Sriphadoong, Most Outstanding A&C Staff. Finally, the Most Valuable Personnel (MVP) Award was awarded to Dr Aye Chan Mon, Ms Pimratchada Patanasuthikul, and Ms Tachana Sae-Tieo for their outstanding contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In her closing message, Dr Pascua-Valenzuela thanked everyone for their hard work and dedication to SEAMEO and to strive to achieve the vision and mission of SEAMEO.

Long Service Award, Most Outstanding Staff, and Most Valuable Personnel were awarded during the SEAMEO Night.
