Diplomatic Briefing on SEAMEO’s Strategic Plans and Action Agenda 2021-2025, 25 July 2022, Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand, 25 July 2022 – The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Secretariat organised the Diplomatic Briefing on SEAMEO’s Strategic Plans and Action Agenda 2021-2025, with the aim to enhance and continue the relationships of cooperation in the diverse of projects and programmes for achievements in the region, as well as to present the accomplishments  that have been achieved, the ongoing projects and programmes, and the further SEAMEO projects and programmes to the stakeholders and partners. 

The Diplomatic Briefing was attended by 70 honourable participants who are Ambassador and delegates of the diplomatic missions of SEAMEO Member Countries and Associate Member Countries, representatives from a SEAMEO Affiliate Member in Bangkok, Thailand; representatives from partner organisations, and SEAMEO Centre Directors/Secretary-General/Coordinator of SEAMEO Regional Centres and Network.

The highlight of the Diplomatic Briefing is the launch of two key documents, namely SEAMEO’s Strategic Plan 2021 – 2030 and SEAMEO Integrated Operational Plan 2021 – 2025, and the Southeast Asia Primary Learning Metrics (SEA-PLM) Strategic Plan 2021-2025. The Diplomatic Briefing also featured Key Messages from SEAMEO Regional Centres and Network representing their commitment and vision towards improving the development of education, science and culture in the region in the next five years.

In addition, distinguished representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat, the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Programme Management Team, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) and UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau of Education, shared their valuable comments on the launched strategic plans and on-going programmes of the SEAMEO Secretariat.

Furthermore, the Diplomatic Briefing provided esteemed guests from the diplomatic corps and participants with the opportunity to explore strategic partnership and exchange on potential collaborative strategies and further programmes for synergised efforts of sustaining education, science and culture in the region during the networking session.

The Diplomatic Briefing extended the continuous effort of the SEAMEO Secretariat in amplifying its strengths through collaborative and strategic partnerships and utilising the existing capabilities of the region to better serve the Southeast Asian community for a better quality of life through enhancing regional understanding and cooperation in education, science, and culture.

The Diplomatic Briefing has been instrumental in realigning the strategic directions of all SEAMEO stakeholders to put plans into actions and to ensure the steady progress of SEAMEO Member countries and its partners at the global level, particularly in the implementation of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 2030, whose progress requires coordinated efforts for escalation by 2030.
