(Virtual) 29 October 2021 - The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia, and the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training of Cambodia, in collaboration with the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Secretariat and the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Technical Education Development (SEAMEO TED) in Cambodia, organised the 6th  High Officials Meeting (HOM) on SEA-TVET with the theme “Technological transformation and the digitalisation of TVET systems.” Since 2015, the High Officials Meetings on SEA-TVET have been a substantial part of the ongoing efforts of the Southeast Asian countries to promote regional cooperation on TVET.

The 6th HOM on SEA-TVET aimed to address the new challenges to TVET stakeholders and TVET systems posed by technological advancement and the COVID-19 pandemic.  Not only did the meeting focus on sharing and examining national and regional best practices, innovative solutions, promising initiatives to ensure and promote continuity of TVET during the COVID-19 pandemic; but also on strengthening collaborative learning process and regional approaches to prepare the TVET systems of Southeast Asia for the future world of work and to build long-term resilience.

The virtual meeting featured 28 invited speakers with the attendance of over 200 participants, consisting of High Officials from SEAMEO Member Countries, SEAMEO Associate Member Countries, and Affiliate Members, SEAMEO Regional Centres, the SEA-TVET Network, development agencies and private sector representatives. Participants from invited institutes and organizations also had the opportunity to explore partnerships with eight providers of innovative technical educational solutions and TVET institutions during a thirty-minute marketplace and networking session.

The meeting provided participants with a variety of innovative practices, initiatives, and approaches to improve the digital readiness of TVET systems and enable the continuation of TVET during the pandemic.

Key outputs of this meeting were the official launch of SEAMEO TED and the SEAMEO TVET Action Agenda 2021-2025, a document with the aim to guide SEAMEO’s actions in the field of TVET during the next five years towards quality TVET systems that ensure learning for all.
