Presentation of SEAMEO Affiliate Membership Certificate to
British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE), Canada

 

17 June 2021 - H E Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Education of Singapore, and newly-elected SEAMEO Council President presented the SEAMEO Affiliate Membership Certificate to British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE), Canada as an Affiliate Member of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) at the first virtual 51st SEAMEO Council Conference (51st SEAMEC), hosted by the Ministry of Education of Singapore.   

The presentation was witnessed by the Ministers of Education, Vice Ministers and High Officials of the 11 SEAMEO Member Countries, namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam, the High Officials from the SEAMEO Associate Member Countries and Affiliate Members, Directors from 26 SEAMEO Regional Centres, and SEAMEO partners.  

 

 

 

BCCIE first expressed its interest to be an Affiliate Member of SEAMEO in 2019. The SEAMEO Council has approved the official proclamation of BCCIE as an Affiliate Member of SEAMEO in 2020 by ad-Referendum.

BCCIE is a provincial Crown corporation that supports the internationalisation efforts of British Columbia (BC)'s public and independent K-12 schools, public and private colleges and universities and language schools. Partnership as an affiliate member with BCCIE will strengthen collaboration between SEAMEO Member Countries and educational institutions in Canada.

Prior to the accession of BCCIE, the Affiliate Member of SEAMEO comprises International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), the University of Tsukuba, Japan, the British Council, China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (UNESCO-APCEIU).
