BANGKOK, 15-16 January 2020 -- SEAMEO Secretariat hosted the Regional Expert Consultation Meeting on SEAMEO Strategic Plan 2021-2030, which took place from 15 to 16 January 2020 in Bangkok, Ramada Plaza By Wyndham Bangkok Menam Riverside.

The meeting served as a platform to revisit the SEAMEO Strategic Plan 2011-2020 and gather inputs from think tank organizations, high-level officials from SEAMEO Member Countries and development partners to determine the strategic direction of the organization for the next decade in line with its priority areas.

A total of 40 participants, representing SEAMEO Member Countries, SEAMEO Regional Centres, and the SEAMEO Secretariat, as well as development institutions and other partners, actively participated in the meeting.

Following a review of the achievements of the SEAMEO Strategic Plan 2011-2020, the High Officials and Development partners, together with other SEAMEO Centres, provided inputs on the social, cultural, political and economic trends and developments in Southeast Asia. The meeting also served as a forum to review SEAMEO's approaches and areas of action, that will  contribute to the development of a new strategic plan for the next decade.  Finally, recommendations and suggestions for the SEAMEO Strategic Plan 2021-2030 were formulated to increase the visibility and responsiveness of SEAMEO and to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
