SEAMEO Signs MoU with Korean Education Development Institute (KEDI)

Relationship between SEAMEO and KEDI started as early as in 2005, with project based partnerships with SEAMEO INNOTECH. Seeing the potential for further partnerships on mutual areas of interests, a series of discussions and meetings began in 2011 to identify key areas of collaboration.

The four key areas of collaboration stated in the MoU are: (a) mobility and exchange of researchers and/or staff; (b) join research activities and publications; (c) mutual participation in regular meetings and other activities; and (d) exchange of academic materials and other relevant information. The signing marked a beginning of a broader and deeper relationship between SEAMEO and KEDI.

Prior to the Signing, the SEAMEO Council approved the formalisation of the collaboration between SEAMEO and KEDI during the 48^th SEAMEO Council Conference on 6 - 9 May 2015 in Chonburi, Thailand.

Korean Educational Development Institute (KEDI) is a government-funded institute established in 1972 that performs research and related activities on educational policy to contribute to education development. KEDI is a Member Institute of National Research Council for Economics, Humanities, and Social Science affiliated to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, and Based in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

Closer collaborations in education research and benchmarking studies will help both SEAMEO and KEDI deepen an understanding of best practices in education.
