Values and Scientific enquiry
How do students conduct their enquiry in a scientific way?
How does scientific enquiry develop into new ideas supported by empirical evidence?
Relative values – Values in  academic contents
Absolute values- Values inherent in the Environment and in us.

Secondary schools

•Cause and Effect – through Pollution
•Importance of diversity – value of unity in nature
•Traditional values, cultural values

Focal point: interconnectedness

This will develop social equity, ethical behaviour and behavioural changes in students.

Evaluations can be done using questionnaires, checklist and observation

Teacher Focus

•Understand the local environment.
•Understand the relationship between the environment and all living things.
•Understand the relationship between all living things within the ecosystem.
•The process of searching for knowledge.

Academic curriculum

•40 mts class- We need to emphasize preciousness of water
•In science we quantify data.

Human Values

•We value diamond for its price- but do we value our mother and father for their love?
•Can we measure the respect for our teachers?
•Can that be measured? Can we forget that love that we experience with our friends?
•Can we forget the love we had for our pets?

Value integration of in water

•We subconsciously de-value the value of water and the gifts that the environment has given us. It is difficult to measure the richness  the environment gives us. Water is part of us and the environment. If water is destroyed we are destroyed…

Myth of quantification- Most valuable things are measurable.

Values in water

Patience, giving nature, make us happy, it does not harm anyone, it does its duty by serving human beings and animals without stop.

Ethical conduct- daily habits- check list

save water when we drink

Bathe, clean ,wash, play

birds, human and other organisms

Preserve life

Ask students to produce answers- this will increase awareness

Value of water

•Let  us learn to love  and understand ourselves  and everyone around us  before we understand the nature of water.
