Water in the World

Total Water = 1.4x10   km

Fresh Water 3%        ground water, water vapor, snow and glaciers

Available water for mankind 0.8%

Water in our body = 60 – 70% of the body weight

Thirsty: lose 1% of water in the body

Dehydrated: lose 4% of the water in the body

Questions

1.How much water is available to us in the world?
2.How much shortage of water makes you feel

  a) thirsty?

  b) dehydrated?

How much shortage of water makes you feel

  a) thirsty?

  b) dehydrated?

If our body weighs 50kg, then the water in our body is 50x.6=30 kg.

Loss of 1% will make us thirsty.

Thus the amount of water loss is 30 x 1/100 = 0.3 kg or 300 cc

Loss of 4% will make us dehydrated.

Amount of water loss is 30 x 4/100 = 1.2 kg = 1.3 litres
