Objectives and Project Briefing

Regional Workshop on Monitoring and Assessment of the Integration of Human Values in Water,  Sanitation and Hygiene Education in Southeast Asian Schools

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-HABITAT, is the United Nations agency for human settlements.

UN-HABITAT is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all.

UN-HABITAT's work is directly related to the UN Millennium Declaration, particularly the goals of member States to improve the lives of at least 100 million slum dwellers by the year 2020

Target 10 of the Millennium Development Goal No. 7 calls for the reduction by half of the number without sustainable access to safe drinking water.

Cooperation between UN-HABITAT and SEAMEO on Values-Based Water Education started in December 2003

Led to the formulation and implementation of strategic programmes to operationalize the Ministerial Declaration on Values-Based Water Education including sanitation and hygiene.

Through this Cooperation, the promotion of Values-Based Water and Sanitation Education among the Southeast Asian Schools is being pursued.
