SEAMES WFH Competition

Tuesday, 18 August 2020 | by Ms Kansiripak Muangnoycharoen

With the spread of Covid-19 Coronavirus globally, the government encouraged employees to work from home as much as possible to reduce the risk of catching and spreading the virus.

SEAMEO Secretariat has been adopting this measure from 23 March up to middle of June and monitoring daily situation closely. During our work from home period, we’ve utilized online communication technologies to help all staff keep in touch with each other as well as get updates on significant information from the Thai governments, temporary practices from other international organization, work schedules, virtual meeting appointments, webinar series organisation as well as staff’s wellbeing.

All SEAMES staff are able to catch up the current situation and provide assistance required even the period of working from home. Since working from home is a new scheme that we rarely have much experience, and it could cause physical and psychological difficulties such as depression, stress, insomnia, anxiety and monotonous atmosphere. Hence, the management team has come up with the idea of helping employees’ working from home experience to never be boring and all healthy.

We launched a few WFH photos and dance video clips challenges with different theme sets to help boost up energy, creativities and build up a fun participation from all staff. All employees were asked to take new photos, share some good memories from the good old days or record a short video clip with a related theme. Entries could be submitted more than once, also.

The prizes and rewards for each competition were offered as a motivation and the winners were selected by a voting system right after the deadline of the contest. SEAMES staff were actively participated and well-planned by selecting their best shots with brief captions about them. This activity can also help our local staff to improve their English usage, as well.
The following themes were announced during the WFH:

  1. WFH Photos (Working manners at home)
  2. An exercise video or photo (How do staff keep their body fit?)
  3. Healthy Living Photos (What do staff do to keep themselves healthy)
  4. Show us your hobbies (What are your favorite hobbies during the WFH?)
  5. Happy and Aha Moments (What are your most memorable moments? Whatever makes you happy, smile, proud, laugh or relax.)
  6. A contemporary dance video with a memory improvement (Follow challenging movements from a sample video).
