
To improve and maintain a healthy habitat for COSI’s animal residents, supplement the knowledge of the staff who provide the ongoing care for them and add value to the Guest experience by adding a variety of participative learning experiences through project work.
Under the supervision of the Faculty Leader for Animals and Family Workshops duties may include:
a. Provide hands-on care for animals, enhance and lead related training for Experience Program Faculty and little kidspace® Team members.
Work with the Faculty Leader to establish working relationships with community partners. Research and recommend additional engaging and educational activities for our guests (of all ages) that would involve the potential for “hands-on” discovery about various animals.
b. Provide direct care, feeding animals and cleaning animal habitats.
c. Research current zoological studies, related to maintaining safe and healthy environments for animals within a science center setting.
d. Recommend and research other species that would complement our existing selection.
e. Serve as an example to other COSI Team Members and Volunteers in matters of appearance, attitude, and performance in a manner best serving COSI paid and Volunteer Team Members and Guests.
a. Zoology or related field major/minor (preferred)
b. Commitment, enthusiasm, resourceful, attention to detail
c. Experience in caring for animals required.
d. Experience working with children is preferred.
