| I. | Introduction | |
| Internship Program is like a practical course that students must apply what they have learned in working. At the same time, students will learn new things-not only knowledge, but also working life. Objective. | ||
| I purpose to practice my English skill, and apply my knowledge to use in work. Fortunately, this is an international organization. I get a good chance indeed. Moreover, I want to experience working life before the real time, and collaborate with people in different ages and nations. | ||
| II. | Training Proper | |
| 3 April 2000 | ||
| Attended the orientation meeting with warm welcome from Deputy Director of Program and Marketing and other SEAMEO officers including watch video about SEAMEO. Next, toured the office, and met the mentor, Ms. Linda Proffitt. Then she assigned me to search educational resource webs in order to collect in SEAMEONet site. She taught me how to search, judge it web is good or not, and advised many interesting search engines. | ||
| 4-7 April 2000 | ||
| This week I had to search for English, French, German, and Spanish Languages Art. Most webs I selected have audio because reading only is quite boring, and I think students are likely to prefer listening to reading. Therefore, the web with an audio will attract students to learn and practice their interesting. | ||
| On April 7, my disk was broken down, so I lost all of my files. This is a big mistake, and I felt so discouraged. Linda said that mistake is a good lesson, so I felt better, and have a power to continue searching. Then I learn to save file in disk. This is sure that my files will be not lost anymore. | ||
| 9- 12 April 2000 | ||
| Continuing searching with the new topics. They are Math, Sciences, Social Sciences, and Cultural Exchange Program. Math and Sciences are very difficult for me to choose. I haven’t touched them for 3 years, and what I had learned are the basic math and sciences. | ||
| 17-20 April 2000 | ||
| Continued searching webs about Social Science in the fields of Anthropology, Archaeology, culture, geography, geology, and history. I had to read a lot. They are full of letters. It’s so hard and spent a long time to discover a good stuff. Unbelievable! On April18, I found only one web. However, I had good encouragement from my mentor. | ||
| 21 April 2000 | ||
| Learned how to use NetMeeting Program and Video Camera-the highest technology I had ever experienced this equipment. This gives both of voice and pictures from the Video Camera between two people in different places. Ms. Linda and I showed this tech to the class. | ||
| 24-28 April 2000 | ||
| There was Workshop on Computer Based Instruction for English as Second Language Learning, which Ms. Linda is the lecturer, through out this week. My temporary work during this week is working as a receptionist asked the participants for registration in the morning, tested NetMeeting and Video Camera with Ms. Linda at almost lunch, and after that continued my routine work, searching webs. | ||
| Attended the class on April 27. It’s really fantastic and useful. Most of participants just knew that Internet is the great resource of teaching and self-studying, and I also the first time here. | ||
| 2-4 May 2000 | ||
| Experienced anothers new , scanning photo. I had to scan about almost a thousand of photos. In fact, scanning is not too difficult, but adjusting photos to be perfect is rather complicated, so I should learn more how to use the tools. After, Ms. Linda asked me to write the process of scanning a photo. | ||
| 8-11 May 2000 | ||
| Returned to search web again, only Math and Sciences, because the existing webs are not enough. | ||
| 16 May 2000 | ||
| Translated Basic Microsoft FrontPage 2000 from Thai to English. | ||
| 18 May 2000 | ||
| Translated the evaluation report of my university from Thai to English. In the afternoon, attended the evaluation meeting with Deputy Director of Administration and Communication and other officers. | ||
| 19 May 2000 | ||
| Drafted this report, and typed it. | ||
| 22-24 May 2000 | ||
| Created a web with other interns in order to install it in SEAMEO Library site. The web is about what we are benefited from this Internship Program. | ||
| 26 May 2000 | ||
| Awarded Certificate. | ||
| IV. | Problem and Solution | |
| At the first few weeks, I faced a lot of problems with computer, but I’m lucky that I have a nice mentor and other IT staffs help me solve the problems. However, I often thought that I shouldn’t ask them to help me. I had to learn and solve the problems by myself. It’s very challenging because I wasn’t familiar with computer. Ms. Linda told me that mistake is a good lesson. Don’t worried about it, but remember not to do it again. I love these words. They encourage and reinforce me to improve myself. Now I feel that I can skillyfully use computer. The more experience I have, the more fluency in using computer I can. | ||
