Star Publications (M) Berhad
Journalist
I have been with The Star since February 1997 and have contributed
substantially to the various sections of the paper.
At present, I work with The Star’s Education Section where
I write both news as well as feature articles on issues pertaining
to the country’s education sector, from pre-school to primary
school and secondary school as well as higher education issues.
In the course of my work, I have also been sent on several overseas
assignments, to cover conferences as well as to write on foreign
universities which our private colleges have links with. Among the
more recent assignments of this nature were coverage of the World
Education Market in Lisbon, Portugal in May 2003; the University
of Toulouse in France (which has a linked hospitality programme
with one of our colleges here) in 2002; and the University of Sheffield,
United Kingdom in 1999.
Though I attached to the Education section of The Star, I have also
written for other sections of the paper, namely travel stories for
the Sunday Magazine (StarMag) and entertainment articles like movie
reviews, book reviews for StarTwo, the lifestyle section of the
paper.

Brillbank Publishing Sdn Bhd
Staff Writer
After graduating in 1996, I wrote for InnAsia, a business-travel
magazine for the Hospitality industry here in Malaysia. During my
one-year at the magazine, I interviewed hoteliers, chefs and a whole
host of industry leaders in the industry. The brief stint here taught
me the basics of journalism for me to move to The Star, the leading
English daily in Malaysia.
