SEAMEO-Australia Press Award 2002

The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) is proud to announce Ms Nguyen Thi Le Huong as winner of the third annual SEAMEO-Australia Press Award, 2002.

After deliberation of fifteen submissions by eleven journalists from Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand four countries. The jury selected Ms Nguen Thi Le Huong as the award winner. Ms Nguyen Thi Le Huong submitted an article from Viet Nam News. “Touching Stories Illuminate Young Minds.” Her well written article touched upon the blinds learning which is unusual and interesting issue. It was treated thoroughly and colourfully with high originality.

Ms Le Huong received a plague of recognition at the 25th SEAMEO High Officials Meeting on 16th December 2002 and a round trip ticket to Melbourne for her internship with newspapers and other news network in Melbourne. Free accommodations, meals and stipend will be sponsored by the University of Melbourne and Asia Link Centre at the University of Melbourne.

Since this year’s submissions are of high quality in terms of Writing and Content, the judges also give certificate of recognition to Mr Alongkorn Parivudhiphongs in a submission entitled “Confusion in the Classroom” which displayed good investigative effort with regional impact. The article was printed in the Outlook section of the Bangkok Post, Thursday, May 10, 2001.

Presentation of the SEAMEO-Australian Press Award by H E Mr Miles Kupa, the Australian Ambassador, witnessed by H E Mr Pongpol Adireksarn, Minister of Education, Thailand and President of the SEAMEO Council who officiated the Opening Ceremony of the 25th HOM.
