| SEAMEC President's Visits 1995 H E Dato Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Minister of Education, Malaysia and President of SEAMEC visited Thailand, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, during August-December 1995. In addition, his Excellency also visited SEAMEO RECSAM in Penang, Malaysia. The first visit of H E Dato Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak was to Thailand, 9 to 10 August 1995. The SEAMEC President paid courtesy calls on H E Mr Sukavich Rangsitpol, Minister of Education, and H E Mr Boonchoo Treethong, Minister of University Affairs. During the meetings, the SEAMEC President discussed with the two Thai Ministers on matters relating to SEAMEO and they also exchanged views on education policies and issues of the two countries. H E Dato Sri Mohd Najib later on visited SEAMEO TROPMED at Mahidol University, where his Excellency met with the TROPMED Secretary General/Coordinator, staff of the Central Office, and TROPMED National Centre Thailand and also the students. At SEAMEO RIHED, his Excellency was briefed by the RIHED Interim Director and the Chairperson of the Governing Board. On 10 August 1995, the SEAMEC President visited SEAMES. His Excellency was briefed by the SEAMES Director on SEAMEO as a whole and SEAMES in particular. His Excellency later called on Dr Victor Ordonez, the Director of UNESCO/PROAP at UNESCO Office, located in the same building. In Malaysia, 19 September 1995, the SEAMEC President went to SEAMEO RECSAM to preside over the joint opening of two work-shops held simultaneously, namely "Regional Workshop on Strategic Planning in Science and Mathematics Education in Southeast Asia for the 21st Century" and "The Fourth Development Workshop on Science Technology-Society Education: Science Across Asia Pacific". On 25 to 26 September 1995, the SEAMEC President visited Singapore. On the first day, his Excellency paid a courtesy call on H E Mr Lee Yock Suan, Minister for Education, Singapore. After that, H E Dato Sri Mohd Najib was briefed on the project on computer education in junior college system in Singapore. On 26 September, the SEAMEC President visited SEAMEO RELC. Aside from meeting with RELC Director and staff, his Excellency had a chance to discuss with the RELC Governing Board whose annual meeting was being held there during that time. The SEAMEC President went to Langkawi, on 9 October 1995, to officiate the opening of the Regional Workshop on "Creating Strategic Change in SEAMEO : Towards Enhanced Regional Cooperation". On the same day, his Excellency went to Brunei Darussalam for an official visit. In the morning of 10 October, H E Dato Sri
Mohd Najib paid a courtesy call on In the afternoon, his Excellency was granted an audience with his Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam. The last visit of his Excellency in this country was to the Brunei Darussalam University, where he was briefed on the history and mission of the university, followed by the visits to some faculties and the library.
