| SEAMEC PRESIDENT'S VISIT TO SEAMEO
CENTRES 1982 His Excellency Dr
Joesoef, Minister of Education and Culture, Indonesia, as President of SEAMEC had
agreed to make an official tour of the various SEAMEO Units outside Indonesia from 19 to
27 October 1982. The tour covered the Secretariat and the SPAFA and TROPMED
Co-ordinating Units in Bangkok, RECSAM in Penang, TROPMED/Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur,
INNOTECH in Quezon City, Metro Manila, SEARCA in Los Banos and RELC in Singapore.
While visiting the various SEAMEO Member Countries which host the respective SEAMEO
Units, the President of the Council also called on the Ministers of Education of these
Member States. In Thailand he also paid a courtesy call to the Prime Minister.
We are grateful to H E Dr Daoed Joesoef for agreeing to undertake the tour of the
SEAMEO Units outside Indonesia, in spite of the heavy demands of duties in his own
country, for the tour undoubtedly added prestige and significance to SEAMEO. At the
same time the tour had given the President of the Council the opportunity to gain a
greater insight into the activities of the various SEAMEO Units.
