This mirror focuses both light and sound. Light or sound approaching the mirror from faraway is essentially parallel. These parallel "rays" of light or sound are directed by the angle of the mirror to a small spot called the focal point. At that point both light and sound are concentrated.

This recreation paper press was used to demonstrate the paper making process.

The Animation Station allows guests to create a stop motion animated movie.

Different media run at different rates. Theatrical film typically runs at 24 frames per second but sometimes as fast as 48 frames per second. Television (in the USA) and digital video operate at about 30 frames per second. Cartoons are often animated at 24 frames per second—with frames being shown twice.

This stand alone exhibit shows that pain sensors don’t only report damage, but also report conditions which might cause damage. The machine produces a very high frequency mechanical vibration. The motor which produces this vibration operates at around 600 Hertz (cycles per second). By comparison, electrical current from the power company vibrates at 60 Hertz.
