The second joint meeting of the SEAMEO Secretariat and the UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education was held on 27 October 2009 at the Mon Luang Pin Malakul Centenary Building, Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok.
The second meeting was hosted by UNESCO and included agenda items such as updates on ongoing and upcoming activities of the two Organizations, potential areas for further collaboration, and joint social activities. Mr Gwang-Jo Kim, Director of UNESCO Bangkok and Dato' Dr Ahamad bin Sipon, Director of SEAMEO Secretariat presided over the meeting.
Identified areas of future collaboration were climate change in education and other related areas such as post disaster, post conflict/disaster risk reduction work, sustainable development in educational planning; development of database and country profiles, and community nutrition and nutrition-related concerns. Enhancing cooperation with other United Nations agencies on various areas was also discussed.
The Meeting was participated in by the directorate and programme staff of the SEAMEO Secretariat and UNESCO as well as representatives from SEAMEO SPAFA and SEAMEO TROPMED. Officers from the Bureau of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of Thailand attended the Meeting to represent the SEAMEO Council President.
