The Ministry of Education of Thailand had recently organized three competitions among schools and colleges in the country to raise awareness on the importance of good citizenship and peace. The contests included logo concept design, essay writing and website development.

The theme of the various school competitions focused on the co-existence of peace and good citizenship in the society as key to development and progress of the country.

More than 80 schools participated in the different categories of the competitions. The awarding ceremony was officiated by H E Mr Jurin Laksanawisit, Minister of Education of Thailand at the Siam Central World, Bangkok, Thailand on 17 September 2009.

As SEAMEO’s support to the initiative, Dr Tinsiri Siribodhi, Deputy Director for Administration and Communication of the SEAMEO Secretariat represented SEAMEO and served as a member of the Panel of Judges in the website development competition.

The nationwide contests were in support of the new school policy introduced by H E Mr Jurin Laksanawisit in the country called "3Ds" or "Democracy, Decency and Drug-free".
