Generation Rx Lab

The Generation Rx Lab is an innovative, educational experience within the Labs in Life exhibit at COSI and run by scientists from the College of Pharmacy at Ohio State. In this lab, your students can conduct hands-on experiments that apply science inquiry skills and provide an engaging platform to learn basic biology and chemistry concepts.

Gadget Works

Pick from Force & Motion or Simple Machines! In Force & Motion, learn about forces and motion by taking apart wind-up toys. In Simple Machines, help identify simple machines inside wind-up toys.

Gross Science

Explore some of the gross process that makes your body work with our new Gross Science birthday party theme. Discover how your body defends its self from pathogens, dig into digestion, and get slimy making your own snot.
  • Age Level: Ages 6-11

Germinator

Students develop their own hand sanitizer and test its effectiveness on germs collected from their own hands. Concepts: bacteria life cycle, disease transmission, personal health.

  • Grade Levels: Grades K - 5
  • Number of Students: 12 - 18 per session

Germs 21st Century Learning Lab

Develop 21st century skills in this unique program focused on cross-curricular learning immersion that includes:
“Germinator,” a 45-minute workshop with OSU researcher Dr. Molly Brown in COSI’s Labs in Life, where you’ll develop a hand sanitizer and test its effectiveness. “Fight Germs, Stay Healthy,” workshop where we’ll discover how our bodies protect us from germs, plus a chance to explore classic COSI exhibitions. Learn about Columbus’ rich past in the new Columbus Historical Society gallery at COSI.

  • Program Date(s): February 5 or 6, 2014  |  1pm-3pm
  • Member Cost: $27 per adult/child pair. Additional family $13.50/ea.
  • Non-Member Cost: $44 per/adult child par. Additional family $22/ea.
