Bridging the Gap to the Ohio Core for Science: 
Earth & Space Science for Grades 4-8

Examine the "new" science content coming in the Ohio Science Core, Earth and Space Science Strand grades 4-8 and discover ways to integrate engaging activities and inquiry experiences to these "new" standards.

Obtain a semester credit through Ohio Dominican University or Ashland University with this workshop for an additional $175 fee; credit sign-up information will be available at the workshop.

Infusing Equity with the SciGirls Seven

The Emmy Award-winning PBS Kids television series, SciGirls, features groups of middle school girls modeling authentic approaches to inquiry-based science and engineering projects. Our television series, website, and outreach initiatives emphasize current research on strategies, the SciGirls Seven, proven to increase girls’ engagement in STEM. This workshop will demonstrate these strategies and encourage all in attendance to share their own experiences and discuss best practices. Participants will receive a SciGirls Seven pocket postcard and gain awareness of resources for girls, parents, and educators.

Science & Engineering SciGirls Style for Grades 6-8

Join the Emmy Award winning PBS series SciGirls in a hands-on, minds-on introduction to the science inquiry and engineering design processes. Learn all about free STEM resources for girls offered through SciGirls, a PBS Kids television series with the goal of changing how millions of girls think about STEM. We will explore SciGirls activities and share our research-based strategies for engaging middle-school girls (and boys) in STEM.

Powerful Practice Workshop - BATTELLE FOR KIDS

In this 3 hour workshop hosted by Battelle for Kids, you will learn how to implement powerful teaching practices that promote high levels of student academic growth. Since 2007, Battelle for Kids has been studying the practices of highly effective teachers (HETs) across the country to learn more about what they do to promote student success.You will leave the workshops with the foundation of a professional growth plan that complements the IPDP and helps fulfill OTES requirements. In addition, attendees will also receive access to Battelle for Kids’ Highly Effective Teacher online modules.
