Interactive Videoconferencing

Science Delivered at the Speed of Light

Videoconferencing connects your students with scientists, doctors, and experts in their fields with a LIVE interactive two-way experience with your school or from COSI.

With COSI's Videoconferencing Programs, You Can...

  • Give your students a surgeon's-eye view of a live knee replacement procedure.
  • Have your class view a tape of an actual autopsy narrated by a forensic pathologist.
  • Discuss cutting edge research with professionals in science, math, engineering, and other exciting fields.
  • Learn videoconference etiquette and be professional during a program.
If your school does not have videoconferencing technology, bring your class to COSI and participate in In Depth: Autopsy or Surgical Suite: Total Knee Replacement from our Galaxy Theater.
What Equipment Do I Need for a Videoconference?

You need full motion videoconferencing equipment. This technology allows COSI and your class to see and hear each other in real-time. Common manufacturers of this equipment include Tandberg, Polycom, and PictureTel. This is not webcasting, so you need more than a camera and a computer.

What Are My Options for Methods of Connecting to COSI?

COSI can accept both IP (H.323) and ISDN (H.320) calls from anywhere. For good video quality, we strongly recommend a connection speed of 384kbps or higher.
