Videoconferencing connects your students with scientists, doctors, and experts in their fields with a LIVE interactive two-way experience with your school or from COSI.
What Equipment Do I Need for a Videoconference?
You need full motion videoconferencing equipment. This technology allows COSI and your class to see and hear each other in real-time. Common manufacturers of this equipment include Tandberg, Polycom, and PictureTel. This is not webcasting, so you need more than a camera and a computer.
What Are My Options for Methods of Connecting to COSI?
COSI can accept both IP (H.323) and ISDN (H.320) calls from anywhere. For good video quality, we strongly recommend a connection speed of 384kbps or higher.
Reservations for schools across the country and internationally connecting remotely to COSI for videoconference programs may be made through COSI’s online reservations system.
For schools, homeschool families, or individuals without access to videoconference equipment, live audiences are welcome to participate in Surgical Suite: Total Knee Replacement and In Depth: Autopsy from the comfort of COSI’s Galaxy Theater located on Level 2. Please call COSI (toll-free) at 888.819.2674 for dates and reservations.
