COSI and Ohio State are partnering to facilitate civil dialogues about science and religion among scientists, the faith community, students, and the general public. The project integrates activities at OSU, COSI, and WOSU Public Media.
Each year, a panel of distinguished scholars who are working at the nexus of science and religion will be invited to participate in a panel discussion on the subject. All discussions will be in the general area of reconciling faith and reason in the age of Darwin, although the topic will change a little each year.
The panel discussions take place live in the WOSU@COSI studios and are recorded for later broadcast on WOSU Public Media. Past programs in this series may be viewed online.

Each year, four distinguished scholars who are working at the nexus of science and religion will be invited to participate in a panel discussion on the subject. All discussions will be in the general area of reconciling faith and reason in the age of Darwin, although the topic will change a little each year.
The panel will discussion will take place live in WOSU@COSI studios with a live feed sent to OSU campus' Fawcett Center Auditorium and all four branch campuses. Prior to hearing the panel discussion, COSI Team members will present a one act play to set up the subject for the evening.
This project is a collaboration to enhance achievement of mission through education in museums, zoos, nature centers, historical sites, arboreta, and similar visitor oriented attractions. As an outreach arm of Ohio State, OSU Extension has a long history of delivering current understandings obtained through research to residents in the state.
OSU Extension is a partner in the Center for Research & Evaluation@COSI in conducting visitor studies . OSUExtension@COSI extends this work by conducting additional research and disseminating findings to museums and museum educators through projects and direct service. In efforts such as Thrive and Strive OSU Extension collaborates with Ohio Museums Association to provide training and coaching for small, stressed museums. OSUExtension@COSI develops proposals and implements grant and foundation funding to continue its research and evaluation work. Scientific-cultural institutions throughout Ohio to work closely with OSUExtension@COSI to enhance visitor services, programs, and exhibit efficacy.
Capacity building work done at COSI through partnership is used as a laboratory for observation by other museums from Ohio and the surrounding states.
The Developmental Language & Cognition Lab (http://www.dlcl.osu.edu/) (DLCL) conducts short research studies with children in the little kidspace® area of COSI. The DLCL is part of the Ohio State Psychology department, and is staffed by undergraduate and graduate students from OSU. Each of the DLCL's studies takes 5-10 minutes to complete and involves a one-on-one interaction with a child with the parents watching. The lab usually works with children between the ages of 2 and 6 years. The studies look at various aspects of children's linguistic and conceptual development. Previous studies have looked at children's ability to understand regional dialects, their comprehension of metaphor, and their preferences when describing and when imitating events.
This digital media center serves as a multimedia studio that’s designed to facilitate the presentation of town meetings, discussions, and community events on TV, radio, and the web. WOSU Public Media partners with many organizations to produce programs that explore community issues, present prominent speakers, and showcase the work of artists, historians, researchers, and scholars.
