The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Secretariat (SEAMEO Secretariat) in collaboration with the Department of Technical and Vocational Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, Indonesia and SMA Selamat Pagi Indonesia organised the Workshop on Modeling TVET Colleges for Entrepreneurship on 7 April 2018 at SMA Selamat Pagi Indonesia, Malang, Indonesia.  The workshop was participated by approximately 75 technical and vocational schools from Indonesia and 4 TVET Colleges, 12 participants from Thailand and Philippines.

“Revitalizing Teacher Education” is one of the priority areas under the SEMEO Education Agenda marked to make teaching a priority of choice and to improve practice-based reforms utilizing the teacher competency standards. In order to fulfill this mandate, the SEAMEO Secretariat has embarked to promote “Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA-Teacher Project)” since 2016. SEA TEACHER aims to promote global competitiveness of pre-service student teachers in Southeast Asia countries through active student exchange.

The SEAMEO Centres Policy Research Network (SEA-CPRN) was firstly introduced as a component of the SEAMEO College, a project launched in 2013.  The Network is established to enhance relevance and sharpen responsiveness of SEAMEO Centres and the Secretariat to the needs of education leaders for policy research to address regional human resource development issues in Southeast Asia.

The 2nd SEA-MOOCs Forum for Network Development meeting was organized by SEAMEO Secretariat in collaboration with Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Indonesia from 2 to 3 November 2017 in Bali, Indonesia to support the SEAMEO Seven Agenda and the Ministers Call for Action as stated in Bandung Statement and the Action Agenda.  It will also support the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly providing accessible quality education for all. The meeting attended by the representatives of Ministry of Education from Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia, SEAMOLEC, INNOTECH, RETRAC, BIOTROP, RIHED as well as Open Universities (UPOU, STOU, HOU, Yangon Univ for Distance Learning) and Universiti Putra Malaysia.

The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) hosted the 40th High Officials Meeting in Montienside Riverside Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, from 28-30 November 2017. This event is held annually, bringing in education vice ministers, permanent secretaries, director generals and other high-level education officials of the SEAMEO Member Countries, to discuss any and all issues on education based on SEAMEO’s 7 Priority Areas: 1) Achieving Universal Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE); 2) Addressing barriers to inclusion; 3) Promoting Resiliency in the face of emergencies; 4) Promoting Technical and Vocational education and Training (TVET); 5) Revitalizing Teacher Education; 6) Promoting harmonization in Higher Education and Research; and 7) Adopting a 21st Century Curriculum.
