Modeling TVET Colleges for Entrepreneurship: A New SEAMEO Secretariat Initiative

The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Secretariat (SEAMEO Secretariat) in collaboration with the Department of Technical and Vocational Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, Indonesia and SMA Selamat Pagi Indonesia organised the Workshop on Modeling TVET Colleges for Entrepreneurship on 7 April 2018 at SMA Selamat Pagi Indonesia, Malang, Indonesia.  The workshop was participated by approximately 75 technical and vocational schools from Indonesia and 4 TVET Colleges, 12 participants from Thailand and Philippines.   

The objectives of the workshop were to improve the integration of entrepreneurial knowledge and skills into the Vocational and Technical Colleges’ curriculum and teaching and learning activities. In addition, the participants had opportunities to learn the effective teaching and learning strategies of SMA Selamat Pagi Indonesia who has successfully integrated entrepreneurship in all subjects across the school programmes.

 

In the morning activities, the participating institutions visited SMA Selamat Pagi Indonesia which implemented Entrepreneurship programs runby the students such as Eagle Eco Tourism, Hostel, Choko Banana/Food Production, Retailing Business, Hydrophonic Farm, Motif Fashion and restaurant.

The participating institutions were from 4 TVET Colleges, 12 participants from Thailand and the Philippines. In addition, the discussion focused on integration of entrepreneurship into learning and teaching practices by sharing of current practices, group discussion, action plan development and presentation by colleges.
