SEAMEO Centre Directors Meeting 2017 Convened in Jakarta, Indonesia

Directors and senior officers of Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) units* gathered in Jakarta from 26 to 28 July for the SEAMEO Centre Directors’ Meeting 2017.

During the meeting, the Directors of SEAMEO Units exchanged ideas and viewpoints of new policy directions, shared achievements and experiences, learnt from each other, and discussed to further expand SEAMEO’s development programmes with existing and new partners in the region. The meeting was held back to back with the 49th SEAMEO Council Meeting organised at Mulia Hotel Senayan. The CDM 2017 was held at the Ministry of Education and Culture Indonesia in Jakarta, Indonesia.

 


Inter-Centres Collaboration Session

 

The partners which shared their programmes and discussed with the Directors for future collaboration included Australia, China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) from PR China, University of Tsukuba from Japan, ASEAN Secretariat from Indonesia, Association of China ASEAN Education and Training Centers from PR China, and DVV International South and Southeast Asia from Lao PDR.

 


Networking Session

 

The meeting was opened and chaired by Dr Gatot Hari Priowirjanto the SEAMEO Secretariat Director. The significant updates included the concretization of three new SEAMEO Centres of which expertise are in the areas of Technical Education (TED), Community Development (CED), and Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting (CECCEP) in Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Indonesia respectively.  The CDM 2017 deliberated on the  SEAMEO Centres accomplishments in 2016/2017, new project proposals under the SEAMEO Education Agenda, TVET collaboration and the institutionalization of the  Centres Policy Research Network.
