Lecture Coverage

Background
The “Helping Individual Pupil Succeed” (HIPS) Resource Toolkit was conceptualised and designed to help teachers access critical information and practical strategies to support pupils suspected with or diagnosed with special needs. It is a ground-up initiative – for teachers by teachers.

Objectives
Our goals for the toolkit can be summed up using 3Es – to Enhance, Equip and Empower. The primary goal is to enhance the understanding of teachers in the area of special needs and equip them to identify symptoms of special needs. They are empowered with practical strategies and resources that they can implement for effective teaching and learning.

Content
The lecture will cover an overview of the types and identification of special needs (namely Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism) as well as the support strategies that teachers can use in the classroom. Participants will also have a glimpse of the resources in the toolkit.

Benefits
Participants will glean ideas to be able to customise the resources to cater to their pupils’ needs and in so doing, build an inclusive classroom where every child can experience success, regardless of their starting point.

***E-Certificates will be provided only for full participation***
