The Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) organised International Conference on Global Citizenship Education (GCED) from 24 to 25 October 2016 in Seoul, Korea and participated by representatives from the Government and private sectors, academia, civil societies, GCED specialized institutes, youth and the general public including SEAMEO Secretariat.
The Conference served as a platform for various actors of GCED to share their best practices and pedagogical approaches and thus, SEAMEO Secretariat presented about the SEAMEO Education agenda on 21st Century Skills highlighting the development on Southeast Asia Primary Learning Metrics (SEA-PLM). SEA-PLM is a regional assessment for grade V primary children to measure their activities on reading, writing, mathematics and global citizenship. Presently 7 Southeast Asian countries have expressed support to SEA-PLM namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines and Vietnam. These countries will have done field trials and main surveys within 2015-2018.
