126 TVET Institutions Gathered for the Agreement of the 4^th Batch of SEA-TVET Student Exchange Programme

The 5^th SEAMEO Polytechnic Network Meeting with the theme ‘Agreement for the 4^th Batch of SEA-TVET Student Exchange Programme’ was hosted by the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education, Ministry of Education of Malaysia and co-organised by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Secretariat (SEAMEO Secretariat) on 26-27 March 2019 at the Excelsior Hotel, Ipoh, Malaysia.

With the successful implementation of the 3rd batch of SEA-TVET Student Exchange by the participation of 313-330 students from 50 institutions in Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam during January-April 2019, the 5th SEAMEO Polytechnic Network Meeting aimed to share and learn the practices of student exchange; to improve the implementation process for the 4^th batch of SEA-TVET student exchange programme to be implemented during August-October 2019; and to seek commitment from the participating institutions.

The meeting was attended by approximately 213 participants from TVET Institutions/Polytechnics/Universities in 5 countries, namely Indonesia (46 Institutions), Malaysia (57 institutions), Philippines (22 institutions), Thailand (17 institutions), and Vietnam (2 institutions). Representatives from industries and SEAMEO Regional Centres, namely, SEAMEO SEARCA (Philippines), SEAMEO SEN (Malaysia), and SEAMEO TED (Cambodia) were also involved in the meeting.

 

At the end of the meeting, 126 TVET institutions (Indonesia: 55, Malaysia: 34, Thailand: 15, Philippines: 20, and Vietnam: 2) agreed to sign the Letter of Agreement (LOA) on the 4th batch of TVET Student Exchange to be implemented in August 2019 onwards. 

The 6^th SEAMEO Polytechnic Network Meeting will be hosted by Duy Tan University in Danang, Vietnam on 6-19 Oct 2019. The 6th batch of TVET Student Internship Exchange Program will be discussed at the meeting.
